An evening date with Bose SoundTouch

If there is one thing about the Singapore distributor, Altas Singapore for Bose system, their service is top-notch. Way back in 1990s, I bought a Bose home theatre system, Lifestyle System 12 from the Altas founder, Mr AB Tien. I was totally sold for it’s sound quality and Mr. AB Tien ability to market Bose well. I used it before I got married and the system follow me to my current home (married of course). I just love it for both music and the played movie surround sound. A good distributor does help especially the sales staff are knowledgeable and able to answer your questions without any “err, let me get back to you.”

But recently, my system is giving me some hiccups and I am unable enjoy it. Sometimes back, they offered a trade-in deal for my old system. I did not take up the offer as my beloved system is still serving me well. If only they started their favourable trade-in offer again for the current range of SoundTouch systems, I may consider upgrading. Given the opportunity to visit Bose showroom, I jumped at the opportunity ( of course, for the public, you may visit the showrooms anytime if you want to. )

Visiting the beautifully furnished Bose Winstedt showroom is a real treat for my ears. In fact, they have a living room, kitchen and two bedrooms (I do not remember seeing any beds). Bose introduces SoundTouch a while ago and they have included a newly launched SoundTouch 10 which is the smallest unit among the SoundTouch systems. Worth mentioning are the exciting range of SoundTouch systems 20 and 30. As usual, Bose system sounds really good. Great sound through constant research.

I am exceptionally impressed with the new Bose SoundTouch Wave system. Every morning, my first generation of Wave radio without fail, wake us up. The Wave technology is simply awesome and delivers rich sound. But the new Wave system is even better after I verify it with both my ears.

You may install the SoundTouch apps for your iphone or Android phone. SoundTouch apps help to control all your Bose SoundTouch systems into one remote control. This apps really make me a lazy person since I do not need to go over to all my SoundTouch Systems in every rooms in my home.

Different staff demonstrated the various Bose SoundTouch systems such as home entertainment system, outdoor system etc.

In my opinion, Bose never fail to deliver the best sound quality to her customers. If you are looking into one good sound system, do invite Bose SoundTouch into your home.

WD launches wireless external Hard Drive – My Passport Wireless

Launch

The launch was held on 28 Nov 2014 at the top floor of Dallas Restaurant & Bar. It was cosy. Fingers foods, drinks were served. I have never use any of the WD My Passport external hard disk before. I am surprised that My Passport range of external hard disks was already in her 10th anniversary  and now it goes wireless.

Features and Capabilities

The My Passport Wireless drive broadcasts its own wireless network that allows up to eight devices to connect at the same time and access any content stored on the drive. Available in 500GB, 1TB or 2TB models. The wireless drive features Wireless N with MIMO technology for enhanced wireless performance. A built-in rechargeable battery provides up to six hours of continuous streaming and up to 20 hours of standby power making the drive a perfect travel companion.

Demonstration

Charlie, a professional photographer, demonstrated the use of the wireless drive. A WD free mobile apps, WD My Cloud, must first be installed in our mobile smart devices before we can wirelessly connect and transfer the files. Charlie uses light painting method to photograph us individually. Photo files were immediately back-up into the wireless drive. Those who were connected to the wireless drive, will be able to view and save their photo into their mobile smart devices. With this wireless drive, the level of efficiency had greatly increased.

Personal Opinion : How this drive serves my needs

As I am a freelance photographer and an accidental blogger, I require my photographs to be back-up immediately after every shoot. Not too long ago, I bought a Sony wireless media drive to allow me to transfer my photographs from my DSLR to my IPAD Air for my social media posting needs. The media drive is limited by the capacity of the SD and CF cards and does not have an internal storage. With WD My Passport Wireless drive, I can back-up all my photographs and at the same time allow me to retrieve the files for my IPAD Air Instagram posting. With a large capacity drive of 2TB, I am free to shoot as much as want to, knowing that I will not ran out of storage space any time soon.  It serves my needs and thus, it is my ideal product.

BlueSound Media Launch 2014

While sipping my coffee in the late morning, waiting for the Bluesound launch event in Singapore to start, I was proudly told that I was the earliest participant. Looking around, even though there were many people, I guessed they were the hosts in this event. Feeling great in this late morning, with caffeine poking my brain, I was able to hear and remember every detail just like a high grade recording unit.

Personal Opinion on Bluesound

Although my time spent on Bluesound products was rather short but I get to see how Bluesound innovate and provide high quality sound to music lovers. If you have existing favourite amplifiers and speakers, you can use them. Bluesound help you to integrate them wirelessly using today’s technology. Putting music in all your rooms wirelessly does make sense for modern living. One important question I did asked is whether will there be any interruptions of the transmission of the music wirelessly. Well, it will be smooth flowing. For those who do not have their amplifier and speakers set, they may want to consider Powernode with the DUO speakers. The sound was excellent.
